Not so long ago, Nissan announced that it would be pulling out of the World Endurance Championship following its poor performance in its first year. However, today the company announced that it would return to the competition in 2016.
The front engined, front wheel-drive GT-R LM NISMO will undergo multiple changes, which include new Michelin-sourced tires but still retains the same original design principles. The team will also have a new Team Principal, Mike Carcamo.
Carcoma said that his predecessor, Ben Bowlby had “his hands full trying to do everything with a concept that requires this level of development.” NISMO President Shoichi Miyatani stated that the company wasn’t happy with not winning and that racing was a vital part of its DNA so it would do what was necessary to make things work.
