A week or two ago, we announced that the zero car for Rally Germany would be a Toyota Mirai- their new hydrogen-powered sedan that is designed to change the way we look at hydrogen cars, and hopefully compel companies into developing a hydrogen infrastructure to support these vehicles.
The car would be largely similar to the road going car (no tube frames or redesigned suspension here), with only a roll cage and a few extra components designed to protect the car and it’s fuel tank from The car was entered by a privateer, with only basic support from TMG and Toyota Germany.
We don’t understand most of the German in this video, but words like pace car and ultimate test stand out, so it’s clear that Toyota Germany is proud of the efforts of the zero-emission 4-door sedan. The Mirai is used in various other parts of the world as pace cars and safety cars (at least in race series with lower speeds), so hopefully this will boost publicity for zero-emissions technology.
