This is a 3rd world Toyota compact car that has only seen service in selected countries in the region. Popular in Indonesia and not for Malaysia as it would compete directly with Toyota’s sibling, Perodua, the Toyota Etios Valco (Etios Liva or Etios hatchback) has received a minor cosmetic update in Indonesia. The front fascia of the car gets a new twin-slat chrome grille and an optional chin spoiler which looks inspired by the TRD Sportivo kit. The Valco gets a new Red color and a dual slat chrome grille.
In fact, the hatchback can now be purchased at all Indonesian Toyota dealers with a bodykit, complete with side skirts and rear bumper integrated mud flaps. The Etios Valco will now come in a new Red Metallic color as well.
Inside, changes are less significant compared to the exterior. The rear bench is given adjustable headrests while the instrument cluster sports blue dials as against the white ones seen on the pre-facelift model.
There are no changes to the mechanicals of the car and it continues to be offered with the 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol putting out an economical 80bhp and 106Nm of torque, matched to a 5-speed gearbox. Will this Toyota be introduced in Malaysia? We doubt it.
