It looks like the 650S will be completely replaced in just a matter of years. Well, 2018 is still a ways to go, but that still shows a certain degree of planned obsolescence. Aren’t supercar supposed to be timeless pieces of art, not consumer-grade products that get a replacement date? As long as McLaren make something worthy of the 650S, we’re sure no one can have any real complaints though.
The upcoming model has a targeted acceleration speed of about 3 seconds to 100km/h from a standstill. They’re also aiming for a top speed of 330km/h.
The replacement to the 650S will not be completely new, with the same carbon fibre-tub and V8 twin-turbo engine making a reappearance. Expect a very different design though.
