First came the Lexus NX 200t SUV with the all new four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and as predicted by us the sporty RC 200t now gets the same engine. Watch for this engine finding its way into the Lexus ES, Lexus GS and probably the Lexus RX SUV in various tune.
Also offered in an F SPORT specification, the RC200t is equipped with a direct-injection turbo-four 2.0-liter that weighs just 160 kg and works with an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift (SPDS) gearbox. It develops 245 PS and 350 Nm of torque which is enough muscle to enable a 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.5 seconds before topping out at 230 km/h.
Upgrade to the RC 200t F SPORT and Lexus will reward you with a Torsen limited-slip differential along with a retuned front & rear suspension to enable better handling. It also boasts the company’s Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) which automatically and independently adjusts the damping force of the shock absorbers to ensure the perfect balance between cornering stability and straight line ride comfort. Body roll is further reduced once the Sport S+ drive mode is selected as this will increase the difference between inner and outer shock absorber damping through corners.
Customers will be able to order the Lexus RC 200t with a variety of alloy wheel designs ranging in sizes from 17 to 19 inches while the F SPORT version will have bespoke 19-inch rims. This higher-end version can also be distinguished by the wider and lower “F” mesh spindle grille along with some interior cabin tweaks like a perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, as well as aluminum pedals and scuff plates along with a 3D look for the metal trim.
