The Silver Arrows continue on their warpath of victories throughout this year’s F1 season. It’s becoming almost predictable with each race- the results usually have one or both of the Mercedes AMG Petronas drivers on the podium, with the rest of the drivers scattered in various positions. With the exception of the races where the team suffers from unforeseen circumstances, they usually have a solid chance of winning.
This victory marks Hamilton’s 39th F1 win, and the 6th win of 2015. It also marks his 80th F1 podium through his career, and puts him on par with Senna for all-time standings. Rosberg’s podium is his 36th of his F1 career, and this makes the seventh F1 race this year with a 1-2 finish for Mercedes-AMG.
Both of the drivers ran with the same pit strategy for tyres, starting out on the option tyre, then swapping to prime, and going back to option. The move paid off and allowed the two of them to maintain an easy lead over the competition. Mercedes AMG Petronas is now 184 points ahead of Ferrari in the constructor’s championship.
