Daihatsu cars has been missing in Malaysia since the start of Perodua for the simple reason that Daihatsu is a technical and management partner of Perodua. We still think that there is room in our market for Daihatsu to re-emerge as they recently displayed a rival for the Suzuki S-Cross at the Indonesian motor show. Called the FX concept, the new small crossover was created according to the Japanese brand to be “tough enough to stand up to the rigours of off-road running”. Measuring in at 3800mm long, 1690mm wide and 1580mm tall, and with a 2455mm wheelbase, this new Daihatsu will also be a rival for the Renault Captur and Honda HR-V.
The Daihatsu FX is based on a rear-wheel drive platform that has been adapted from the Daihatsu Terios (Perodua Nautica) SUV architecture. It is rumoured to carry a 1.2-litre twin cam petrol engine.
