Remember the RCM Gobstopper II that we wrote about just last week? Well the in car footage from this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed has finally made it to the internet, and it is some truly impressive stuff. We’ve seen footage of the car bucking around during it’s UK Time Attack Challenge stints, but to see it being driven so hard in such a tight environment is something to behold.
For those who don’t remember, the base car is a Subaru WRX STi version 10 with a fettled EJ20 boxer engine that produces over 750 hp, delivering power to all four wheels with a sequential gearbox. It was one of the quickest cars there not merely through power, but through impressive and effective aerodynamic design.
Here’s some footage of the Gobstopper II from the outside, for those who didn’t catch it during the Goodwood FoS broadcasts. As mentioned before- where the first Gobstopper was a wild machine, the Gobstopper II is developed as something to be wielded with precision.
In comparison, he makes the Focus RS look like it’s hardly trying at all- and the Focus RS
is a car that’s slated to be one of the hot-hatch slayers when it hits the market later this year or early next year. But then again, the Gobstopper II is a purpose built time attack machine, and hardly usable as a daily driver.
