The E-Class is quite a ways along in terms of it’s model life. And as always, with every facelift or generational change companies will try to cram as much new technology as they can into their cars in order to keep them relevant and up to date with their competitors.
Mercedes-Benz may be taking some larger steps with the next generation E-Class, and they are perfectly happy to show the public what they have in store. Some of the aspects merely build upon technology that already exists, such as camera systems that detect pedestrians or automatic braking.
But there are other new systems that are quite innovative in the areas of safety and convenience. Crash safety is especially important and it becomes more and more difficult for manufacturers to score high ratings in crash testing. Mercedes-Benz is tackling the side-impact issue with an automatic seat bolster air-cushion that pushes occupants away from the sides of the car, reducing the risk of injury.
All that and more is featured in the video provided. Of course there’s more to a car than just a list of features, but it’s nice to know what we can expect from the three-pointed star.
