The colour BLUE has overtaken the colour SILVER as the favourite car colour in a survey recently conducted in England.
More than 25 800 drivers were questioned by the Automobile Association (AA) in England where 21% said they would pick blue when choosing their next car. This was followed closely by silver, at 19%, and black with 18%. Red which is a colour associated with sports cars such as Ferraris took a surprising back seat at 14%.
Beige, the colour of the 1970s was at the bottom of the list with a mere 1%. The AA report also said: “When it comes to reselling the car, there are now three clear contenders for most saleable colours which are blue, silver and black.
“Sellers of purple or beige cars may struggle. Various police forces switched to silver cars a few years ago to cash in on better resale values.” The AA also said that many drivers believe lighter colours are easier to spot on the road and therefore safer.
