The new model breaks away from the outgoing model’s horizontally laid-out taillights and looks less like a Triton from almost every angle, it doesn’t even resemble the current Triton model though it will have many mechanical similarities. In fact, it looks like the Pajero sports an X-shaped grille, like a Lexus, but with pieces of chrome trim covering the top half, leaving the bottom half’s honeycomb mesh exposed for an extra rugged look. The headlights are a little more slender too.
Apart from that the 3rd row windows now taper up slightly, meaning there’s a bit less glass to look out of in the back seat. The roofline slopes a bit, but we doubt Mitsubishi are trying to tack on coupe styling.
Performance-wise, a 2.4-litre turbodiesel capable of 154 PS and 380 Nm of torque, but here in Malaysia, we might end up with an updated version of the 2.5-litre non-turbo diesel instead, like we got on the Triton.
