We previously reported that Ford would return to 24 Hours of Lemans in 2016, half a century after three of its legendary GT40s took podium finishes. Now we have pictures of the absolutely stunning Ford GT which will go up against its old rivals – and some new ones – next year at the Circuit de la Sarthe.
The racer will feature Ford’s most advanced and experimental technologies, including an extremely powerful twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 and carbon fibre bodywork. Ford worked with Multimatic Motorsports and Roush Yates Engines to squeeze the most out of this car, which has a road-going equivalent that’s also due for release next year.
With Porsche winning this year’s competition, the 2016 Le Mans race is going to be a lot of old rivalries rekindled, so expect the race of a lifetime.
