With the burgeoning growth of custom enthusiasts including 2 and 4 wheels customizers, die-cast toy collector, music and art genres, the organizer of Art of Speed aims to grow and make Malaysia as the hub of convergence to all custom lovers. Gearhead lovers will be congregating at Malaysia’s biggest indoor custom car and motorcycle show this coming 6 and 7 June at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park, Serdang (MAEPS).
We got a chance to have a look around the main exhibition hall, where dozens of classic and modern custom cars and bikes were put on display. You’ll see some of the highlights posted here and at the bottom of the post. Do have a look at them, and if you’re interested in seeing any of these cool rides in person, bring yourself and RM10 for parking and entrance fees to the venue on the 7th.
Art of Speed, Malaysia’s own homegrown OlSkool & Kustom Kulture event is taking things up another notch this year by introducing the AOS Triumph Invitational Bike Build-Off. This event which is being held for the fourth time is organized by Switchblade KL with support from Tourism Malaysia and also Fast Bikes Sdn Bhd as the official motorcycle partner this year.
Four builders from Klang Valley including 3 workshops and 1 backyard builder will be competing against each other over 60 days to complete their creation with an initial budget of RM10,000 cash and parts worth RM2,500.00 given to each builder.
In addition, a lucky visitor to Art of Speed 2015 event stands a chance to win one of the customized Triumph motorcycle, choosing their favourite to take home from the line-up of four amazing builds.
The 4 selected custom builders are Hungry Ghost Customs Inc. (Ahmad Junaidi b Abd Aziz), Awesome Works Engineering (Sallehudin b Hj Hamzah), Big Cat Motor Art (Hazuar b Hassan) and Eastern Bobber (Omar@Maharani b Jumiran). All four will be customizing the motorcycles in open class and café racer categories.
Among other attractions at Art of Speed this year will be the special appearance of Scott “T-Bone” Jones from Noise Cycles USA, Andy Carter from Pangea Speed USA, Shige Suganuma from MOONEYES Japan, Dino Dalle Carbonare from Speedhunters.com Japan, Kimura Kengo from Heiwa Motorcycles Japan, Masa from Luck MC Japan, The Nash from Burnout Magazine Japan and art collective pinstripe group from Japan; Wildman, Makoto, Mr. G, Jetwrench and Boo.
Three custom built vehicles will be at the show to share with Malaysians the caliber of international award winning custom vehicles. The three vehicles are specially brought in from Japan.
This year’s showcase will include a curated indoor (100,000 square feet with air-cond hall) Show and Shine competition, FIM ASIA Supermoto Championship and MotoJamm featuring Aaron Twite from USA, Malaysian Supermoto Championship featuring local riders, an art gallery themed Moto Circus with local and international artists, Pin-Up Workshop, Kustom & Coffee Talk, Car & Motorcycle “Mascot” Run, children and family activities include Giant Bubble, Star Wars costumed charity phototaking, a Soapbox Show & Go!, a youth arena featuring indoor skatepark and graffiti exhibition.
A major infrastructure attraction this year at Art of Speed 2015 will be a spectacular two life-sized orange tracks measuring up to 12ft in height by Hotwheels in the air-conditioned hall. Two vehicles that had won awards in previous Art of Speed will be showcased at the life-sized tracks.
Among other highlights will be retailers at the marketplace, vintage and jeans market by PintuMerah and marketplace, which in overall will feature more than 200 brands.
The winner of Best of Show motorcycle and automobile categories will win trips to the MOONEYES Yokohama Hotrod and Custom Show this coming December, which is believed to be, the best Hot Rod & Custom show in the world.
