Michelin joined Petronas in its Petronas FMDrive 2015 to promote road safety awareness to the Malaysian petrochemical logistics community held at Shaziman Transport in Durian Tunggal, Malacca recently. Michelin was the exclusive tyre partner of the fourth anniversary of the petrochemical tanker driving skills competition.
“It’s a great pleasure to team up with Petronas Dagangan Berhad to spread awareness about the importance of safe driving, which is aligned with Michelin’s goal to strengthen the widespread of road safety consciousness in Malaysia,” said Beltran Yturriaga, Managing Director of Michelin Malaysia.
“We hope this partnership will make a significant contribution to reduce road accidents and fatalities, especially those involving large commercial vehicles,” he added.
During the event, Michelin showcased its latest high performance X Multi tyre range, which offers high levels of safety for the vehicle’s driver and precious load without sacrificing the durability that is needed for traveling over different types of road conditions, while providing less rolling resistance for better fuel economy.
Michelin also presented Recamic, a high quality and reliable retread solution for radial tyres that will help transporters to reduce operational costs while improving safety and performance.
“Beyond showcasing Michelin products, we want to highlight the key role tyres play in ensuring the safety and efficiency of fleets operations,” said Beltran.
According to Beltran, with the increasing number of commercial vehicles on roads, fleet operators are searching for solutions to improve safety. “Tyres are the only point of contact between a vehicle and the road, and yet their importance to a vehicle’s safety and fuel economy is easily overlooked. By choosing the right tyres, fleet operators will be able to benefit from the innovative technologies brought forward by the tyres for their vehicles.”
“Therefore, the Petronas FMDrive 2015 serves as a platform for us to educate people about the importance of choosing the right tyres, to ensure the highest standards of safety and fuel efficiency in fleet operations,” he added.
