What a sterling 1st quarter it has been for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. While many competing brands have taken a smaller share of the sales pie, Mercedes-Benz has bitten a large piece with its popular new cars and revised styling that has hit the right note with many Malaysians.
The traditional ‘uncle’ car is now the ‘in’ car for 2015 as younger buyers are turning their attention to the new Mercedes compact hot hatch models and even their luxury sedans like the C-Class and E-Class.
Mercedes-Benz also got a great start to the second quarter of 2015 with an impressive 932 units of passenger cars sold in the month of April, resulting in a total of 2818 units sold year to date.
For April alone, which was a ‘slow’ month for many car brands, Mercedes-Benz sales figures were 75% higher than that of April 2014 (same time last year). The cars that made up the impressive April sales figure started with the compact car segment. The A-Class, CLA, GLA and B-Class had 284 units sold (+19% vs 2014).
The all new C-Class took in 270 units (+250%. vs. 2014) which were all the latest locally assembled (CKD) versions. With class best fuel economy and high luxury appointments, the E300BlueTEC Hybrid sedan is continuing its success story with another magnificent month of 293 units sold to happy customers resulting in a growth rate of +70% vs. sales in 2014.
The hybrid fascination continues with the uber-luxury Mercedes S-Class S400 Hybrid which had 83 customers in April. With this momentum, the rest of 2015 looks very rosy for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and the competition needs to look at working harder to gain back their numbers.
