Just a couple of months after the 6-Series range received its facelift, BMW are now giving the M6 cars a new Competition Package. What this does is it pushes the 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 to churn out 600 horsepower, 25 more than in the last Competition Package, and 700 Nm of torque throughout the entire rev range.
The M6 comes in the same three body styles, Coupe, Gran Coupe (essentially a 4-door coupe) and Convertible and the Competition Package improves their performance and dynamic capabilities pretty drastically.
The Coupe and Gran Coupe does 0-100 in 3.7 seconds and 0.1 seconds slower in the Convertible. Getting to 200 km/h now takes 0.6-second faster than the M cars fitted with the previous Competition Package. Unfortunately, the top speed is still limited to 250 km/h like so many other European cars but it tops out at 305 km/h with a M Driver’s Package option selected.
