DTM is on it’s way. Yesterday we posted pictures of BMW’s M4 contender in the DTM championship, and with the first race at Hockenheim quickly approaching, Mercedes is finalising their testing for their own DTM entries.
The Mercedes-AMG DTM Team was at Oschersleben on Tuesday for the first of three official DTM test days. All three of the manufacturers contesting this year’s DTM are here from Tuesday to Thursday, taking advantage of this opportunity to get ready for the season opener on 1st May at Hockenheim. On Day One of testing in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, DTM rookie Maximilian Götz joined series veterans Gary Paffett, Christian Vietoris and Robert Wickens to put the four Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM cars through their paces.
The fastest of the Mercedes-AMG quartet was Robert Wickens with a time of 1:20.133 minutes. Over the course of the two sessions on Tuesday, the four drivers completed a total of 490 laps (equivalent to 1,811 km). Maximilian Götz completed 93 laps on the DTM circuit near Magdeburg during the morning session. He was only able to put in a single lap during the afternoon because of technical problems.
On the second day of testing (Wednesday), the cockpits of the four Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM cars will be occupied by Daniel Juncadella, Gary Paffett, Paul Di Resta and Pascal Wehrlein.
