Infiniti put together an actual, real-life model of its Visuan Gran Turismo, which was designed exclusively for the popular Grand Turismo 6 video game, when it held its inaugural Infiniti Design Night two days prior to the first press day for Auto Shanghai 2015. The evening occasion took place at the Shanghai Himalayas Art Museum.
Under the theme of “Aesthetics of Contrast”, the Infiniti Design Night showcased three design concepts showing an exciting path to Infiniti’s future – the Q80 Inspiration, Q60 Concept, and the Vision Gran Turismo – all having their China premieres.
Around 200 Chinese and global media attended and engaged in lively dialogue with Infiniti designers about the power and artistry of Infiniti design.
While Q80 Inspiration is the flag bearer of Infiniti’s new design language, the Q60 Concept it all one step closer to reality and will be built and on sale worldwide within calendar year 2016. The Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo meanwhile heads into the realm of the imagination, embodying what a high-performance Infiniti could look like in the future.
Most manufacturers don’t go so far as to build a non-virtual version of their Vision Gran Turismo cars, but it’s great to see Infiniti go the extra mile to show that the tech of today is fully capable of hammering out futuristic designs.
“Infiniti is a brand driven by design and by the desire to deliver vehicles that are evocative and progressive,” said Shiro Nakamura, Chief Creative Officer and Senior Vice President of Nissan Motor Corporation. Nakamura and Infiniti Executive Design Director, Alfonso Albaisa, covered several key design points in a discussion that explored the essence of Infiniti design.
