To celebrate their 185th anniversary, Baume & Mercier has created a special 185-piece limited edition model with an 8-Day power reserve. The Clifton 8-Day Power Reserve features a 45.5 mm diameter polished and satin-finished 18K red gold case.
The domed, opaline siver-colored dial (with matching domed sapphire crystal) has riveted red gold numerals and indexes, with matching lance-shaped hour and minute hands. The minute scale is printed on the outer chapter ring with black graduations and blue numerals for each five minute division. At 6 o’clock is the small seconds subdial with a circular guilloche finish, black printed 5-second indices and a red gold continuously sweeping hand.
A highlight of this new Clifton models is a single barrel mainspring that boasts a 192-hour maximum power reserve. On the dial, a blue hand at 9 o’clock indicates how many days are left from 8 Days to 0.
On the back side, the case back is open, offering a view into the nicely finished, manually wound, IWC sourced movement. It beats at 4Hz, has a variable inertia balance and includes a stop seconds function that stops the balance when the crown is pulled, allowing more precise time setting. The bridges have a “Côtes de Genève” decoration and the main plate, beneath, has a circular graining finish. Blued screws and the Greek letter, “Phi”, which is the logo of Baume & Mercier, complete the highly decorated movement.
This is a special 185-piece edition, and so each piece has “One out of 185” engraved on the caseback. (Ref. 10195) The Clifton 8-Day Power Reserve watch is delivered with a black square scale alligator strap, secured by an 18K red gold pin buckle, and comes inside a special limited edition case.
