The new front design showcases more focused and determined-looking headlamps, a wider grille and new daylight running lights. These new design details increases the S60’s road presence and gives it a more expressive ‘face’. Inside remains largely unchanged, save for the new Digital Instrument Cluster with 8” Adaptive Digital Display and some minor interior updates.
Similar to its predecessor, the S60 will utilise the GTDi (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection) engine, available in two variants – the 2.0 litre T5 engine produces 240 hp and 320 Nm of torque, and the 1.6-litre GTDi engine (T4) churns out a good 180 hp with 240 Nm of torque.
Both variants are paired with an automatic six-speed Powershift transmission complete with Geartronic. The Polestar performance upgrade is available for the T4 variant.
Other enhancements include new and improved safety systems, such as a radar-based Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) – alerting the driver to oncoming traffic from the sides when reversing out of a parking space; an improved City Safety system which is now active up to 50 km/h; the world-first Pedestrian Detection technology, now with the addition of Cyclist Detection (T5 only); and Road Sign Information (RSI) which supports the driver by displaying the road signs in the instrument panel (T5 only).
The entry-level S60 T4, is priced at RM221,888 (on-the-road without insurance), while the range-topping S60 T5, is priced at RM268,888 (on-the-road without insurance). Both variants will come with Volvo’s extended coverage plan which includes a 5-year warranty, 5 years of free service including parts per scheduled maintenance, and 5 years of free roadside assist (Volvo-on-Call).
Buyers can choose from five exterior colours – Flamenco Red (702), Ice White (614), Ember Black (487), Electric Silver (477), and Seashell (484). An optional exterior styling kit, including the R-Design Styling Package allows customers the opportunity to further enhance the S60’s already nuanced appearance.
