The Lotus 2-Eleven was supercharged, superlight track day car based off the Exige S which weighed in at 670kg. Its successor will be just a tad heavier, with the target being 890kg. The car will be called – surprise, surprise – the 3-Eleven and be limited to a run of just 311 units.
Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales also indicated that it would feature a V6 engine as opposed to the in-line 4 that comes in the current model.
The new motor will produce about 414 hp, enabling the car to complete a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7:09. Indications are that Lotus would push for a street-legal variant capable of hitting 290km/h , though only time will tell. Expect a full reveal at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
