Following on from our previous story about Frank Yu’s stint in a Seat Leon cup car around Sepang under the Craft-Bamboo banner, the team is ready for the international season to kick off, with the opening at Sepang International Circuit.
Frank Yu will join 3 other drivers, all of which will be piloting the same SEAT Leon racecars as Frank. The Craft-Bamboo SEATs complete a 17 strong line-up of touring cars that will all be intent on challenging for the very first TCR International Series victory. The 5.543-km track features 15 turns and 8 straights; allowing for ample overtaking opportunities, which should make for some competitive racing.
The TCR International Series format will see two 20 minute practice sessions conducted on the Friday, with the first race to begin Saturday 15:30 (GMT +8). The race will be conducted as a sprint and shall run for 9 laps or 20 minutes, whichever is completed first.Sunday’s race will begin at 12:35pm (GMT +8) and will precede the Malaysian round of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, meaning plenty of motorsport fans will be able to enjoy a taste of the new international touring car format.
The season will see a total of 11 races contested on three separate continents that include South America, Europe and Asia. After the inaugural round, the series stays in Asia, travelling to the Shanghai International Circuit where the race will once again run alongside the Formula 1 Grand Prix on April 12th.
