There are very few models out there that can lay claim to being “icons”. But when you think of iconic American cars, the Mustang comes to mind. Ford Motor Company today announced that the new Mustang will be previewed at Publika in Solaris Dutamas from March 11-15, ahead of its official arrival in showrooms nationwide by December. The event marks the first time that the next-generation of this iconic Ford vehicle will be on display in Malaysia.
To mark its 50th anniversary of continuous production, the all-American sports car is going global, with Malaysia being one of a select number of right-hand drive markets to receive the new Mustang. Falling in line with Ford’s global car idea, the Mustang is developed and tested to function properly in a variety of markets and situations. This means Malaysians will soon be able to buy their own slice of automotive heritage for the first time.
Mustang will be offered in Malaysia in both a fastback and convertible, and with a choice of a 5.0-litre V8, producing 435 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque, or a turbocharged, fuel-efficient 2.3-litre EcoBoost® engine, producing 310 horsepower. Naturally the EcoBoost engine will be the more popular model, combining a smaller capacity road tax with higher fuel efficiency, while still producing an impressive amount of power.
Built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant in the United States, the new Mustang is the most advanced version yet, with a sleek new design for the fastback and convertible, as well as world-class handling, more precise steering control and enhanced ride comfort. The modern and muscular interpretation of the classic design is also more aerodynamically efficient, improving fuel efficiency and performance.
