Ford recently announced its best-ever February sales performance in Malaysia with overall retail sales jumping 66 percent year-over-year to 1,249 units, led by continued strength in demand for the class-defining Ranger pickup truck.
“Our award-winning Ranger continues to lead the charge across our whole lineup, allowing us to welcome more and more Malaysian customers to the Ford family as our momentum grows,” said David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.
As the number two best-selling pickup truck in Malaysia, the popularity of the versatile Ranger continued to expand as retail sales surged 104 percent year-over-year to 966 units.
“Our customers tell us that it’s the Ranger’s class-leading safety features and extraordinary capability they value most, whether transporting the family in Kuala Lumpur or hauling a heavy load in Sarawak,” said Westerman.
Offering an unmatched safety package for the segment in Malaysia, the full Ranger lineup is equipped with active and passive safety features, including driver and front passenger airbags standard on all models, in addition to side and rear curtain airbags in the Wildtrak variant. Ranger also features Ford’s Electronic Stability Control (ESC) across all variants and ISOFIX mounts for child seats in the Wildtrak, as well as all XLT and XL Double Cab variants.
The sporty Fiesta delivered sales of 129 units in February, led by the 1.0L EcoBoost variant that boasts a class-leading combination of performance, fuel efficiency and emissions levels. The Fiesta offers the most comprehensive safety package in its class, including seven airbags, and comes packed with smart technologies, including Ford’s award-winning SYNC in-car connectivity system that lets drivers make phone calls and control their in-car entertainment system hands-free, using voice commands.
The EcoSport compact urban SUV contributed sales of 66 units in February. EcoSport combines the agility, affordability and fuel efficiency of a compact passenger car with the flexibility, style and right height of a SUV.
“This is really an exciting time for Ford in Malaysia, and we remain absolutely committed to further growing our business and to providing the very best customer and ownership experience,” added Westerman.
