Craft-Bamboo Racing is ready for Argentina as the FIA WTCC returns for the 2015 series introduction. The inaugural race of the season will be held at the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo, where Grégoire Demoustier will line up for his WTCC debut in the Eurodatacar-liveried Chevrolet Cruze.
This will mark the WTCC’s third visit to the Santiago del Estero region, where an estimated 50,000 fans will be drawn in by the promise of motorsport action. The 4.8km circuit will surely provide fans with the action they expect with its fast, flowing layout and high-grip surface. However, wind-blown sand can create an abrasive yet slippery surface, providing a challenge for both the driver’s and cars. The season opener in Argentina marks the race return for independent champions Craft-Bamboo Racing after taking a one year sabbatical from the series.
The #11 car that will be driven by Demoustier was built from the ground up in a short timeframe before undergoing its first test at Bruntingthorpe. Here Demoustier completed over 100km of trouble free running before the car was air-freighted to Argentina. Demoustier ran a number of simulator sessions so he could familiarize himself with the track, ensuring that he is well prepared to challenge the rest of the grid on race day.
The opening round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship in Argentina gets underway with testing on Friday, March 6th. Free practice and qualifying will be conducted on Saturday, March 7th, with two 13-lap races being run on Sunday, March 8th. Craft-Bamboo Racing’s World Touring Car Championship campaign would not have been possible without the support of, Eurodatacar, Ravenol, Gravity, Musto, Team Dynamics and Orangebus.
