Triumph a new, limited-edition Rocket X that celebrates 10 years of production of the Rocket III, Triumph’s biggest and most celebrated cruiser.
The power delivery of the Rocket comes courtesy of a 2294cc three-cylinder engine that has an impressive 163 pound-feet of torque (claimed) at a leisurely 2750 rpm. The engine is solidly mounted in the frame and is used as a stressed member to keep the headstock and the swingarm in line. The longitudinal crankshaft turns in the opposite direction as the balance shaft and driveshaft to minimize torque from the massive 39-pound crankshaft.
Custom paint specialists 8-Ball got the nod for the Rocket X’s Jet Black paint with silver-leaf striping. A stealth black exhaust system is coated with high-temperature-resistant paint, and a black flyscreen shrouds the chrome-ringed instruments.
Black finish on the handlebar, mirrors, and gear and brake levers complement the black five-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels finished with a hand-painted pinstripe.
There will by only 500 Limited Edition Rocket X motorcycles made. Each will come with side-panel badging and unique numbering, and a Rocket X badge on the oil tank that’s machined from solid billet aluminum.
No pricing has been announced at press time, but you can ask your Triumph dealer yourself when the Rocket X hits showrooms in March 2015.
