The last leg of the 2014 Malaysian Super Series saw Team Proton R3 winning the top spots in the Malaysian Touring Car Category.
Held at the Sepang International Circuit on 2 November 2014, the Team fought hard throughout the one hour race till the chequered flag to take victory against very determined rivals. The No.12 Suprima S R3 race car finished in first, followed by the No.11 Prevé R3 race car. The team utilised all its assets, including two efficient pit stops and commendable teamwork by the crew to pull off its best result of the year.
The No.12 Suprima S R3 race car driven by James Veerapen and Tengku Ezan finished the race with a total time of 1 hour, 1 minute and 35 seconds, recording the fastest lap ever in a race by the team at 2 minutes and 37 seconds around the 5.543km track. The No.11 Prevé R3 race car driven by Syafiq Ali finished the race in a strong second with a total time of 1 hour, 1 minute and 57 seconds.
The rest of the top 6 finishers included the No.19 Satria Neo of Team Sakura – Tedco Racing in 3rd place, No. 39 Satria Neo of Team R Engineering in 4th, No. 26 Honda City of Honda Malaysia Racing Team in 5thplace and the No.10 Satria Neo of Team Glocomp Racing in 6th. A total of 16 cars in the Malaysia Touring Car Category (1600cc) started the race featuring cars from Proton, Honda, Suzuki and Toyota.
Team Sakura of Tedco Racing emerged the 2014 Champion, flying the flag for PROTON with their No.19 Proton Satria Neo. This marks the 4th consecutive time a Proton Satria Neo has won the overall championship with the 2011, 2012 & 2013 championships grabbed by Team Proton R3 in a Proton Satria Neo R3 race car.
