Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, is set to make a bold fashion statement with the introduction of the Mitsubishi ASX Designer Edition.
Limited to just 180 units, the ASX Designer Edition is created to satisfy those who seek exclusivity and a ride that exudes confidence and flair. It leverages on a unique collaboration with Malaysian designer Rizalman Ibrahim, resulting in a fashion statement that can only be described as breathtakingly stylish.
Design
Available only with the 4WD variant and in Titanium Grey, the aesthetics of the Mitsubishi ASX is firstly accentuated by matte finished 17-inch alloy rims for a more aggressive stance. This sporty outlook is complemented by matte grey body stripes that run the length of the bonnet and rear hatch door, further highlighting the sleek profile of the ASX.
Additionally, the standard bee-sting type antenna is replaced by a specially-developed shark-fin antenna for a cleaner, more aerodynamic roof line; a larger rear spoiler with integrated LED third brake light and a dark chrome exhaust finisher complete the stealthy yet classy treatment.
Interior
Moving into the cabin, the makeover is even more evident with an all-new colour combination for the leather seats and main passenger touch points. Grey and yellow are chosen to reflect the ASX’s toughness whether it’s on or off the road, with yellow highlights adding the contrasting element of fun, resulting in an interior that is uplifted from the already premium ambience.
Taking centre stage in the ASX Designer Edition’s cabin is the exclusive grey and yellow leather gear knob with diamond stitching that is masterfully hand sewn and presented. The distinctive gear knob sets the tone of the interior which sees the standard-fitted black combination leather make way for a cool yet plush dark grey full leather seats.
The exclusivity of the ASX Designer Edition is further enhanced in the specially selected perforated leather applied on the key touch points; namely the door panels and arm-rests, along with high gloss panel finish on the door arm-rests for a premium quality touch and floor mats with Designer Edition emblem.
“The locally-assembled, award-winning Mitsubishi ASX compact SUV has captured the hearts of Malaysians since deliveries began in February this year. However, we wanted to offer something that is unique to our customers. This is when we decided to collaborate with Malaysia’s fashion designer Rizalman Ibrahim to create a limited edition ASX with exclusive aesthetics and a personalized touch,” said Tetsuya Oda, Chief Executive Officer of MMM. The collaboration is unique in Malaysia, bringing together a local designer and a Japanese car brand.
“I find it to be a stylish SUV with just the right size. It suits my lifestyle as it has ample space to carry my stuff…You never know when you’re going to need a new pair of shoes or a new set of clothes for a meeting! It’s also very easy to drive and fuel efficient,” Rizalman said.
He added “The different shades of grey used in the ASX Designer Edition also represent the strength and toughness of the ASX, signifying its suitability for on or off-road conditions. We introduced yellow as an element of fun and contrast, especially in the interior, thus making the ASX Designer Edition an SUV that truly stands out even in challenging conditions.”
Rizalman Ibrahim has been a fashion designer since 1994. His achievement includes winner of the Mercedes-Benz Asia Fashion Awards, and Star of the Year & Stylo Red Carpets awards in Mercedez-Benz Stylo Fashion Awards 2008. Standard equipment for the 4WD variant already includes a panoramic glass roof with LED ambient lighting, steering column mounted shift paddles, keyless entry with push start button and security window tint.
