Following an exciting and competitive outing at the inaugural FIA Formula E race in Beijing in September, Amlin Aguri is looking forward to the next race in the Formula E series at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre circuit this Saturday.  Amlin Aguri obtained the fastest lap time in Beijing on top of winning FanBoost.

Unique to Formula E, FanBoost allows fans to give their favourite driver extra power by voting for them prior to the race.  Amlin Aguri driver, Katherine Legge won the inaugural FanBoost and received a five-second ‘power boost’ which temporarily increased the power of her Spark-Renault SRT_01E Formula E car from 150kw (202.5bhp) to 180kw (243bhp).

Speaking at the pre-race media conference in Kuala Lumpur, Mark Preston, Amlin Aguri’s Team Principal said “a great deal was achieved and many lessons learned in Beijing.  The Amlin Aguri team worked together wonderfully at the first race…which contributed to the team setting the fastest lap in the world’s first all-electric race, as well as winning the Fanboost”

“As the inaugural race,” said Technical Director Peter McCool, “Beijing was exhilarating and the experience will help us deliver results in the coming races. We’re looking forward to Putrajaya where our driver line-up will be Katherine and rising star and current F1 Red Bull reserve driver, Antonio Felix da Costa.  We are also looking forward to connecting with our fans and we hope they will vote for Katherine and Antonio with #FanBoost and give extra power to the cars during the race.”

Legge, the first confirmed woman driver to compete in the Formula E Championship, said she was looking forward to the Putrajaya race as an opportunity to see what the car can really do, after her first race was hampered by communications issues. “I’m looking forward to this race. Putrajaya is a great opportunity for us to show the fans what we can do when we’re not hampered by technical issues.”

Antonio Felix da Costa, who comes with experience of Formula 3, Formula Renault 2.0 and Formula 1, expects the Formula E race to be the highlight of his year so far. “I’m very excited about my first Formula E race and hope my experience in the different forms of single-seater motorsports will hold me in good stead for the Putrajaya challenge.”
