Porsche Watches Now have Their Own Swiss Watch Company

Porsche Design has recently unveiled two new watches, the Timepiece No.1 and Chronograph Titanium Limited Edition, essentially the same watch with different cases. Finished in matte black and made out of titanium, the limited edition timepieces mark the first two models build exclusively by Porsche Design.

After more than 40 years of successful cooperation with renowned watch makers, Porsche Design has recently announced they’ve founded their own company in Switzerland, called Porsche Design Timepieces AG. The first two timepieces of the new generation will be launched at the beginning of November in a limited edition of 500 pieces each.

As the 1972 Chronograph I model, the new watches are finished in matte black in order to create a maximum contrast, thereby enabling perfect readability. From the clock face to the strap, the only thing different is the red stopwatch. Its creators claim the Chronograph I was developed not as a piece of jewelry, but rather as a precision tool, so racers could quickly see the time without wasting their concentration on the track. A similar principle is applied at the current models.

An exclusive timepiece for the gentlemen

The convex, double-coated, anti-reflective sapphire crystal provides a distortion-free view of the meticulously crafted dials, which feature a high-gloss black Porsche Design Icon. The bead-blasted titanium cases of both models have a diameter of 42 mm and optimized undersides that make them comfortable to wear, while the screw-down case backs contain elegant black-tinted sapphire crystal openings.

We’re looking at a rare and expensive watch, specially designed for the gentlemen who love cars. At least that is what its creator would like customers to believe.

The wrist watches are powered by a Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 with 25 jewels and a power reserve of 48 hours. Just in case you’re considering getting one, we’ll warn you that the Titanium model is priced at USD6,850 while the Timepiece No.1 will cost you USD7,550.
