Spanish bike sensation Marc Marquez won the 2014 MotoGP championship by finishing runner-up at the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday. The 21-year-old adds the 2014 title to the 2013 championship he won in his debut MotoGP season. “Two years in MotoGP, two titles. It’s incredible,” Marquez said. “I couldn’t have imagined it. Maybe to people it looked easy because I am always smiling and always happy, but also I feel pressure.”
Twice former world champion Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha won the race 1.638 seconds ahead of Marquez, who overtook Rossi with eight laps remaining and held off the Italian to secure the title. Pedrosa finished fourth. Catalan Marquez has now won four world titles in five years. He won the 125cc title in 2010, the Moto2 in 2012 and back-to-back MotoGP titles.
