The Toyota Mark X has not been a popular car in Malaysia. Why? Because it is not sold officially and is only sold as a parallel import. The Mark X is sold as a Japan only domestic car and only th recent model has seen sales outside of Japan in limited markets.
The earlier model was quite popular when parallel importers sold it, although in small numbers. It’s a rear-drive (or all-wheel-drive) sports sedan about the size of between a Lexus IS 250 and a Camry. Here we have the current latest model which is known as the new ‘Yellow Label’ model. Pictured here is the Mark X with a more aggressive front end with angular headlights and a new grille. The rear end of the sedan however gets more subtle changes, namely a new set of taillights.
As for powerplants, a 2.5-liter V6 with 203bhp is available on the base model while a 3.5-liter V6 with 31bhp is available for those craving more performance. Both versions run on a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters just like in the Lexus IS models.
Available on the 250G, 250G Four and 250G S trim levels, the Yellow Label gets a special shade of Awaken Yellow paint (though it can be had in black, white or silver as well), with an interior decked out in either yellow or black. It also gets piano lacquer trim, yellow stitching, pink gold accents, special tread plates and other interior equipment upgrades, as well as a unique set of alloys.
We look forward to this latest Mark X arriving in Malaysia.
