This is some initial information on the upcoming next-generation Audi R8. This new Audi supercar will share the same architecture as the Lamborghini Huracan with more of a mix of materials including carbon-fiber. This new R8 will be slightly wider and longer than the Huracan. Not only will this mean a more spacious cabin, but the ride comfort should be better to. The Huracan has been designed as the more hardcore driving supercar, with this Audi positioned as the everyday supercar.The manual transmission will disappear and like before a V8 and a V10 will be offered with power rating starting from 460bhp and a 4.0 TFSI replaces the 4.2 FSI high-rev V8.

However this new R8 will likely have its output capped below the 601 horsepower of the Lambo. Production of the 2016 R8 range will take place at Audi’s new Böllinger Höfe plant in Neckarsulm, Germany. A global unveiling may take place at next months 2014 Paris Auto Show in October, the same show where the original R8 was unvelied 8 years ago. More information to come.
