Mitsubishi Mirage Winning Fuel Efficiency Of 28km/liter

2015 Mitsubishi Mirage ES

With a winning formula of engine technology, a CVT gearbox and strong lightweight chassis, the Mirage is once again the top winner in the compact car segment. Being part of Mitsubishi’s strategy to capitalize on the constantly growing compact market, the new Mirage, which is an “eco” car, was built with class-leading fuel economy in mind. Besides being fuel efficient, it is arguably the most ‘complete’ supermini in the market in terms of features. In terms of looks, there is nothing to shout about the Mirage. Mitsubishi has chosen to keep this model humble, clean, and rather sensible.  However in the cabin, Mitsubishi has equipped the Mirage rather well.

Once you start fiddling around, you noticed that there are many features that put the Mirage ahead of the game. For instance, features like the push start ignition (available in the GS variant), the Kenwood two-din audio system with iPod connectivity, dual airbags, and Isofix anchorage are not something that are available as standard in cars within the same price range. Cabin space is decent too, but in the rear, leg room can be an issue for rather tall individuals.

The Mirage is available in a few variants with the GS sitting on top of the range with features like front fog lamps, a spoiler, leather steering wheel and gear knob, keyless operation system, push start function, digital automatic air-conditioner, and LED stop lamp integrated into the rear spoiler.

Believe it or not, the Mirage is able to achieve fuel consumption of more than 28km/l, a figure that is usually seen only in hybrids. Although these figures might suggest that the Mirage is a humble car in terms of performance, the Mirage, which weighs only 860kg, is actually a very nippy, fun city car. Power is supplied by a 1.2-litre DOHC MIVEC engine that produces 76hp and 100Nm of maximum torque, with two transmission choices (CVT or manual). Power delivery is seamless, and the Mirage is capable of clocking top speed of more than 140km/h with ease.
