This is the Luminor 8 Days, otherwise known as the PAM590. It is sold exclusively for the Notth American market. Why? Well we do now know and seriously watches can be worn almost anywhere in the world with no issue. This Luminor 8 Days is powered by one of Panerai’s newest calibres, the P.5000. As the name implies, the watch is capable of running for 192 hours once fully wound, making it a worthy addition to the growing list of timepieces with lengthy power reserves.
Aesthetically, the PAM590 is not a radical departure from other Panerai models, but it does have two features that stand out: the case back is engraved with a manned torpedo and the lume is appropriately aged, falling in line with Panerai’s wartime heritage. The size is also manageable by Panerai standards; the smallest models clock in at 40mm, while others are 47mm or larger. That’s not to say the PAM590’s 44mm diameter is small by any means, but it is relatively reserved and well proportioned on the wrist.
And despite being exclusive to the North America, the PAM590 is priced at under USD8,000 which comparably to other Panerai 8-day models. Plus, with “8 Giorni Brevettato” (which translates to “8 Days Patented”) printed on the dial, one can only assume that the PAM590 will be a Paneristi favorite as well.
