Jamie Whincup inherited his second victory of the day following a controversial collision between the race-leading Volvo S60 of Scott McLaughlin and the Nissan Altima of Michael Caruso. Winterbottom benefited from the aftermath of the Caruso/McLaughlin crash to snatch another 6th place finish and retain his tenuous lead in the points standings. After 24 of 38 races, he has 1736 points, with Whincup now just 48 points behind, while Lowndes is a distant third with 1490 points
