Audi Sport and Swiss watchmaker Oris is about to spawn more than stickers on the side of the Audi R18 e-tron quattro racers contesting the World Endurance Championship this season. Apparently, the partnership is also about to spawn a new limited edition watch in the form of a specialized Artix GT Chronograph adorned with the Audi Sport logo.
Here’s what we know so far about the watch. We happened upon it on social media when someone posted the photo and a prototype was apparently shown at the watch industry show Baselworld back in March. Though several press releases have come from both Oris and Audi Sport, none have yet to confirm the watch’s existence officially in public relations verbiage.
From these sources we’ve gleaned a few things. The run of these limited edition chronographs is currently limited to 2,000 pieces. Pricing appears to be just shy of 3,000 €. It features a titanium case, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, tachymeter bezel, luminescent hands and red holes in the black leather band.
The TopperJewelers post points out that standard Artix GT chronographs from Oris do not get the titanium case. It also mentions that, since this is a sample watch from Baselworld, some production changes could be made before final production. Further, the two firms we found listing the watch are unclear as to whether they are ready to ship now or in the future. We’d bet shipping will be in the future since neither Oris or Audi Sport have begun to promote the watch.
