PROTON’s family sedan, the Prevé and PROTON’s hatchback model, the Suprima S, have been awarded with 5-Star ratings in the ASEAN New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP). The announcement of the awards was made by Asean NCAP at the Phase III Result Launch 2014 in Melaka, which was also held in conjunction with the 2014 Global NCAP Forum, Melbourne, Australia.
The Prevé and Suprima S had earlier on, received international safety recognition after being awarded with 5-Star safety ratings by the Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP). Besides its high standard of safety, both Prevé and Suprima S also offer PROTON’s most well-equipped and advanced technological features in terms of performance, styling, driving dynamics and sophistication and as with all Proton models, their driving dynamics are enhanced with Lotus Ride and Handling.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of PROTON Holdings Berhad, YBhg Dato’ Abdul Harith Abdullah, PROTON’s drive to change the public perception about the brand and quality of Proton cars is now further proven and reinforced by this latest achievement.
“We are really humbled and heartened by such acknowledgment of our brand products. As we have reiterated time and time again, our models are not just affordable but more importantly we want our customers to know that our products are of international quality and standards. An achievement of this level for our Proton Prevé and Proton Suprima S, which are both in the C segment class, is yet another testament of the improving quality and standards of Proton cars. Such recognitions are at par with global renowned brands. As a matter of fact, out of the 12 cars tested for ASEAN NCAP safety standards during Phase III, PROTON came in a close second in the results.”
“The wellbeing, comfort and safety of our customers when driving Proton cars has always been, and continue to be our top priority. So when the Proton Prevé and Proton Suprima S were developed, we challenged ourselves to produce a car with high safety standards,” said Dato’ Abdul Harith. “In fact, we constantly engaged with and received feedback from our customers and from there on, we continue on working to enhance not only the safety features, but also all aspects of all our models, including our engineering and performance. Our customers will see the results of our initiatives in our upcoming models and variants.”
The 5-Star rating awarded to the Proton Prevé and Proton Suprima S surpasses the achievement of the Proton Saga FLX, another model under the PROTON marque, which last year received a 3-Star rating by ASEAN NCAP.
