The Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV has been selling for 35-years and this military styled SUV is finally about to be replaced. Exterior design inspiration will come from the futuristic Mercedes Ener-G-Force concept SUV with a Mercedes sedan (probably E-Class) cabin for the interior.
Technology levels will also be increased, with features such as stereo camera technology enabling the inclusion of many of the driver-assistance and safety systems seen on the latest flagship S-Class. The engine range will include the new 3.0-liter, inline 6-cylinder petrol (codenamed M256) and diesel (OM656) units currently under development ahead of their debut in the next generation E-Class. For this new G-Class, the petrol engine will produce more than 360hp and the diesel will produce over 300hp. The engines will be paired with the new Mercedes 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox to provide this SUV with improved fuel economy and lower emissions.
