This is an Audi RS5 eTurbo which is the latest creation from Ingolstadt. It comes equipped with a new powerplant and as tagged as a TDI Concept as it is powered by a two-stage turbodiesel engine.
This is the first-even diesel-powered RS model from Audi and it is expected to go into production next year. This new engine uses a two-stage turbocharger: a smaller turbo that is lighter and gives the engine more grunt at lower engine speeds, while the bigger turbo starts spinning at higher speeds.
What’s more interesting is that the engine uses electrical assistance to be sure that the smaller turbocharger is spinning quickly enough to be active at very low engine speeds. This means that the V6 TDI BiTurbo diesel engine comes fitted with an electric compressor.
The new V6 two-stage turbodiesel engine delivers an impressive 385 hp at 4200 rpm and a maximum torque of 750 Nm. The engine is bolted to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox that sends the power to the Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.
As a result, the Audi RS5 eTurbo TDI Concept is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited at 174 mph or 280 km/h.
