Combining aircraft industry technology with quintessentially British craftsmanship, the Plus 8 is one of the core models in Morgan’s current lineup. To celebrate 100 years in the business of vehicle manufacturing, the British carmaker announced it will build the Plus 8 Speedster Limited Edition. As the name suggests, only a handful of vehicles will be produced at the Morgan factory in Malvern, Worcestershire.
Inspired by the bygone era of stripped back road going race cars, the standard Plus 8 is the lightest V8 passenger car in the world approved to European safety standards. In Speedster flavor, this car sports a series of eccentric styling features and is said to offer an even more engaging driving experience than the standard model.
Under the hood you’ll find a 4.8-liter BMW V8 engine with 367 horsepower and 490 Nm of torque, which can be mated to a standard six-speed manual or an optional ZF six-speed automatic gearbox. Thanks to the unladen weight of only 1,100 kilograms, 0 to 100 km/h comes in only 4.2 seconds, and the car will keep on accelerating right up to the 238 km/h mark.
Thanks to its aluminum chassis design and low weight, the Morgan Plus 8 Speedster’s performance figures perfectly match its timeless curvaceous lines. Potential customers can improve on its design by choosing any number of styling features available in the options list. It will enter production this coming June, with the first cars to be delivered this June.
