Would you buy a Rolls Royce SUV? Well its chief executive Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes recently told a Reuters Insider in an interview. “It’s a very interesting segment, definitely, and we are thinking about it,” Mueller-Oetvoes said in response to a question about whether building an SUV would be feasible. “We are playing with some drawings and we are starting now to look even deeper into the whole thing,” he remarked. He noted that a decision will only be made once they are convinced that the SUV fits to the Rolls-Royce brand. According to Mueller-Oetvoes, the hard part was reconciling an SUV with the Rolls-Royce brand values that have not been associated with sportiness or offroading. The underpinning s of the all new luxury SUV will probably come from its ‘parent’, BMW, namely the all new X5.
Rival ultra-luxury brand Bentley is already planning to roll out an SUV in 2016 and has disclosed that it expects to create a new segment with the model that may cost about EUR180,000.
