The FIM and Dorna have finally announced the provisional racing calendar for 2014, for all the three classes, Superbike, Supersport and Superstock. Two of the classic circuits have been dropped: Silverstone in the UK and Monza in Italy. Despite the long racing history Monza has, it looks like once more, safety concerns have prevailed. Monza was not exactly the safest raceway in the past, and with the increased power of today’s racing machines, it appears like the track is too dangerous in wet conditions.
The calendar still sees no less than three rounds subject to contract (STC): Sepang in Malaysia, Laguna Seca in the US, recently being dropped from MotoGP, and Phakisa in South Afica.
There’s no word on the final race of the 2014 season, as the 2 November slot just mentions “Overseas”. We’ll bring you more news as we get it.
