TOYOTA DREAM CAR ART CONTEST WINNERS IN TOKYO, JAPAN

Motor Corporation (TMC) Japan held an award ceremony for the 7th Toyota Dream Art Contest. A total of three winners at the National phase from Malaysia attended the award ceremony which was held at Mega Web, TMC’s vehicle experience facility in the Odaiba waterfront area.

The Toyota Dream Car Art contest was open to children 15 years of age and below in 70 countries and regions around the world. This year’s contest attracted 612,000 entries, of which more than 1,000 entries were received by many talented children from Malaysia during the National phase. A total of 30 finalist and their guardians from 24 countries and regions attended the ceremony where they were presented with gold, bronze, silver, best finalists, special President’s award and other special awards.

The Malaysian world contest finalist grabbed most of the awards such as the gold award for the ‘10 – 12 years old’ category went to Lim Xin Ying aged 11, Chin Weiky aged 9 won the silver award for the ‘under 10 yrs old’ category and the bronze award for the under ‘10-12 years old’ category’ won by Leng Yi Shun aged 9. The proudest moment for Leng Yi Shun was when she also walked away with the “Special President Toyota Award” which was chosen by TMC President Akio Toyoda himself.

At the end of the award ceremony, the participants worked together to complete an “Infiorata-style” flower carpet using the three Gold award winning artworks as a motif. The carpet is on display at Mega Web till August 29, 2013. The 3D model of the President Toyota award-winning piece from the winning creator Ms. Leng Yi Shun, Malaysia will also be on display from November 2nd till mid-December 2013.

Cheering and commenting on the contest, Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor said, “He wishes his heartfelt congratulations to all the winners from Malaysia and hope the ‘Toyota Dream Car Art Contest’ will be held once again next year. Conducted as part of TMC’s social contribution activities, the contest gives children throughout the world the opportunity to develop an interest in cars and helps them feel the joy and importance having a dream.”

He also added that UMW Toyota Motor wishes to strengthen the relationship with local communities and customers, and to make children, who are the future of our society, understand and design cars along with Toyota to create ties with them.

This Toyota Dream Car Art contest helped many children whom are the future generation of the country, inspiring their creative passion, new ideas to draw the truly practical, meaningful cars for the present and the future – a safe car for a safer and better society in the future.
