This new vehicle is a visionary concept of a super sports car will be present as a 1:1 scale model on 19 November 2013, at the opening of the new Mercedes-Benz Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, California. The new car will debut in Gran Turismo 6 when the new racing game goes on sale in December 2013, as the first of the “Vision Gran Turismo” series of vehicles. Regarding the design, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo reminiscent of the legendary 300 SL racing car of 1952. Still, the grille of the vehicle comes with exclusive LEDs instead of classic louvres, angled headlamps, an aggressive hood and a stylish rear end with a retractable rear wing.
The interior is inspired by the Formula 1 cockpit and the integral sports seats blend into the black flooring of the footwell. Under the big hood, there is an AMG V8 biturbo engine rated at 585 hp and 800 Nm of torque.
Thanks to the aluminum space frame body and carbon fiber components, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo has a weight of just 1385 kg. This means around 2.4 kg per hp, an unrivalled figure in super sports car segment.
“By virtue of its proportions and expressive appearance, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo embodies the brand’s defining design philosophy of sensuous purity in a unique way. The design of this concept car reflects to extreme effect the perfect symbiosis between emotional, sensuous contours and intelligently presented high tech,” says Gorden Wagener, Vice President Design Daimler AG.
