BMW will be involved in the 2013 Asian Le Mans Series for the first time at Round 4 – 3 Hours of Sepang on the 8th of December. Taiwan’s AAI-RSTRADA will race their #91 BMW Z4 GT3 in Sepang as they look to claim one of the two invitations to the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans available to GTC teams. After submitting a request form to the organising committee and announcing the same driver line-up as was used in Zhuhai (Jun San Chen, Takeshi Tsuchiya, and Tatsuya Tanigawa) the #91 BMW will replace the team’s McLaren MP-4 12C GT3 that AAI-RSTRADA has used in all previous rounds of this year’s Asian LMS.
Currently in 3rd place in the GTC Team Championship on 40 points behind Craft Racing on 42, and AF Corse on 69 (who still need to start the race in Sepang to secure the Team Championship) if AAI-RSTRADA’s #91 scores 3 points or more than Craft Racing then they will almost certainly win automatic entry into next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. However China’s BBT still have an outside chance with their #37 Lamborghini Gallardo GT3, but only if they are able to win the race and Craft Racing score 0 points on the weekend, and AAI-RSTRADA’s #91 scores 12 points or less. There is a huge amount at stake in Sepang as the 2013 Asian LMS is concluded and the Champions decided.
