Borgo Panigale is readying a new 500 only units limited run Panigale. The 1199 Panigale R Superleggera is expected to surface prior to the 2013 EICMA with an invitation-only clientele of select buyers. The new Ducati 1199 Panigale R Superleggera will take off where the base R-model (are we even allowed to say “base” and “R”?) and will be, as its name already states, a super-lightweight machine. With extensive use of magnesium, titanium and carbon fiber, the Superleggera is said to shave some 40 lbs (18 kg) off the already light Panigale.
But things, again, are far from over, A&R reports. The engine will also be re-tuned for a power and torque hike which should bring it into the 220 HP zone. Öhlins dampers and Brembo brakes are standard equipment, but the Ducati 1199 Panigale R Superleggera will also bring a next-gen electronic system derived from the WSBK program.
