This is an all new Honda compact multi-purpose vehicle developed exclusively for ASEAN markets. Just like the Datsun GO+ shown a few days ago, the Mobilio will be Honda’s first vehicle in the lower priced MPV category. The MPV offers spacious interior with three row seat configuration for seven people. However, it has compact-size and a ground clearance as high as 185 mm. What is more, this Honda model is equipped with a 1.5L i-VTEC 4-cylinder petrol engine, which will deliver to its customers both great driving performance and fuel economy.
The Mobilio is compact with a 2650mm wheelbase, 4390mm in length and 105mm height. The wheel base is more than the Honda Amaze which is sold in Thailand and you will get more cabin space inside of this car. It features 185mm of ground clearance too. The production of the vehicle will be held in the second plant of HPM and will start early next year.
Takanobu Ito, president and chief executive of Honda Motor, said: “The Honda Mobilio is the first model Honda has developed especially for the Indonesian market. Working closely with Honda operations here to study the unique needs of Indonesian customers, this Honda Mobilio will fulfill the dreams of Indonesian customers for an affordable family car featuring Honda’s high standard of quality. We will continue to support the expansion of Honda business in Indonesia by introducing new products that meet the needs of our Indonesian customers.”
The other car, which was presented at the Jakarta Motor Show was the Honda Brio Satya. This compact model which is already very popular in Thailand is equipped with a 1.2L i-VTEC petrol engine and delivers a very low 20 km/L fuel economy. The model will be also produced locally at the Karawang plant of HPM.
