This weekend would be GRA Nationals Autocross Championships 2013 Round 3. The GRA 2013 season is partnered by Red Line Oil, Vanli Genuine Parts, Mazda, Bardahl, PG Perma Glass, Arospeed, Gophers GPS, Ghee Hiang, Whiteline, Motorsports Playground, Euroscale, and MovieMotion. GRA’s grassroot series started in 2005, and is the longest running sanctioned autocross/gymkhana series to date with the largest following. This weekend’s event would be in Bukit Jalil Stadium Car Park on the 8th September 2013 from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
Bermaz Motors Sdn Bhd the distributors and importers of Mazda vehicles in Malaysia would be having some of their cars on display and test drives would be available too. Some of the other booths that would be there on race day are Bardahl Malaysia, Ghee Hiang, Vanli Genuine Parts, WhiteLine and PG Perma Glass. The race would also have the racequeens gracing the event and providing spirit of competition amongst the drivers.
Leading the charge into Round 3 would be Mike Ng in his Mitsubishi Evolution 7 4wd and Ken Erai in his Proton Satria Mivec. Both Ken and Mike took a win each in Round 1 and 2, it would be interesting to see them in action against the rest in a flat-out open course layout. Returning to the scene after not being able to run in the first two rounds due to work is Ivan Khong from Team Red Line in his Subaru Impreza 4wd. ‘ I am really glad to return to GRA after many months of work. It is good to see new guys climbing up the field and winning, hopefully I am able to keep up’, said Ivan Khong.

GRA’s series is a 5 round championship with Round 3 happening this weekend. Autocrossing is a time trial event held in large open areas that are lined up with cones to mark a course. Fastest time of the day wins, and GRA splits up the engine capacity of competing cars to equalise the difference in power.
