Ford in Malaysia, through its Malaysian distribution partner Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC), recently provided transportation support as the Silver Sponsor for the XtraMile Run 2013 charity run. XtraMile Run is an inspirational 100-km charity run led by avid marathoners Alex Au-Yong, Kyle Tan and Daniel Lee. The XtraMile Run seeks to inspire Malaysian individuals and organisations to engage in charitable works, including this year’s beneficiary, Dignity for Children Foundation. More than 160 runners participated in relay-style 10-km, 13-km, 26-km and 31-km stretches of the 100-km run across the Klang Valley.
As the event’s Silver Sponsor, Ford provided two all-new Ranger XLTs and one all-new Kuga to help transport event crew, supplies and equipment along the run’s 100-km course. In addition, Ford also contributed RM3,000 to help support Dignity for Children’s mission to provide underprivileged children with long-term, high-quality education and care in a secure environment.
“In line with our efforts to go further in the communities where we operate, Ford is committed to continue contributing towards important initiatives like the XtraMile Run, said David Westerman, regional manager, Ford Export & Growth Operations, Asia Pacific. “As a strong corporate citizen, we proudly encourage others to serve their community through good works and charitable giving.”
Ford and SDAC have been active in a number of community outreach activities this year, recently supporting Harian Metro’s Titipan Kasih programme, providing three all-new Ranger XLTs to help deliver buka puasa provisions to selected homes across Peninsular Malaysia, as well as towards other causes.
Such activities are in addition to Ford’s eighth annual Global Week of Caring (GWOC), taking place 7 to 15 September 2013. During this year’s GWOC, thousands of Ford employees across six continents will perform community service works committed to building a better world and making a difference as good corporate citizens.
For the Malaysian GWOC activity this year, Ford and SDAC employees will spend 14 September volunteering at Kirtarsh Handicapped & Disabled Children’s Home. They will provide auto repair services for their transport vehicle, renovation and maintenance as well plant trees to help maintain and improve the facility.
